Alert People
by Alerting Places.
Emergencies happen in specific
geographic locations. The RAVEN System is built on the concept
that the fastest, most effective method to notify large numbers of
people in harms way is to notify the locations they are at.
Secondarily, emergency messages can be sent to cell phones,
PDA’s, wireline phones, and email accounts. While this latter
method has been well marketed, it is simply too slow and the database
management too cumbersome to serve as a primary emergency alerting tool.
How it Works.
The RAVEN System utilizes
digital wireless messaging technology often called paging. This
proven technology allows for messages to be delivered to our new family
of alerting devices designed specifically for mass notification.
Low cost paging is the perfect technology choice as it allows for
instant delivery of messages to large numbers of fielded devices over
vast geography. The wireless paging service is readily available
from commercial providers in your area. The technology also
allows for low cost ownership of a discrete private system designed for
your specific application.
The RAVEN System consists of three basic parts. The digital
paging provider, the end devices that receive and display the message,
and PC based software that allows a user to easily deliver messages
to the paging terminal.
A user simply types a desired message and selects the desired group of
devices to receive the message. At the click of a mouse, the
message will be delivered to the paging terminal and then sent
wirelessly to the devices in the field. All of the units will see
the message but only the group of devices selected will activate and
display the alert.
This action can be done from any location where the system software is
installed. It does not have to be in the same location as the
paging terminal. Multiple users can be incorporated into the
system and be located anywhere. For example a RAVEN
System installed on a college campus can be activated by the campus
police, a regional 911 dispatch center, or by a third party weather
service. In addition the system can be configured to allow
key authorized users to send messages to the devices using a touch tone
phone.
At the same time the devices are notified, the system can deliver the
text message to cell phones, PDA’s, personal pagers, and email
accounts. If you already own messaging software, RAVEN
products can be configured to work in concert with your existing system.
Vast grouping capability.
The RAVEN Systems
architecture allows for almost unlimited grouping capability.
This allows the user to address only the RAVEN System units in a
defined group, while leaving other units inactive. Groups can be
configured according to locations, user type,
building address, or any desired criteria. The system always
maintains the ability to address every end device within the system at
one time. |
